Albums
Toto's discography consists of 13 studio albums as well as 4 live albums. There are also a few compilations. In addition to releasing original music, Toto has also done collaborations with other artists and on soundtracks for films. Toto has won numerous Grammy Awards.
Before Toto was formed the members of the group did session work for other musicians. David Paich, the son of session drummer Marty Paich, and Jeff Porcaro (the brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro and drummer Jeff Porcaro) all performed on Boz Scaggs’ 1975 album Silk Degrees. The group's collaboration led to formation of Toto in the year 1976.

The band's third album, Turn Back, marked a departure from the more progressive sound of their previous albums, and was criticised for the lack of hit singles. In 1985 the lead singer Fergie Frederiksen resigned from the group, and the group held auditions for the new frontman. The band chose guitarist Steve Lukather, and recorded Fahrenheit in 1986.
Toto released Toto XX in 1998 to mark its 20th anniversary. The band went through old tapes and recordings to create the special record. The album was well-loved by fans and Toto began an extensive tour with former members Bobby Kimball Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.
In the course of the tour for the album 40 Trips Around the Sun The drummer Leland Sklar departed from the group and was replaced by Shem von Schroeck. In 2017, Toto released a double-CD live set called Falling in Between, which included live recordings from the tour as well as an interview with the group.

Toto is an American rock band that was formed in 1977 in Van Nuys, Greater Los Angeles. The group is made up of Steve Lukather (vocalist/guitarist), David Paich (bassist), Steve Porcaro (keyboardist/vocalist), Jeff Porcaro and Joseph Williams who is a guitarist and vocalist. In 1983 the group released Toto IV, which earned them worldwide praise. After the album's success The band embarked on a world tour in support of the album. The tour was interrupted when Bobby Kimball, the lead singer, was detained for drug-related charges. The band decided to let him leave at the conclusion of the tour, and they hired singer/guitarist Joseph Williams in his place. Drummer David Hungate also left the band following the tour. Leland Sklar took over his place.

The most popular video of the group is "Africa", which has over one billion views on YouTube. The video is set in a library and features the band performing in front of a pile of books about Africa.
The track "Africa" is from the album Toto IV, was written by the members of the band and was produced by David Pich. The song was written by band members and produced by David Paich. It was a huge hit in Europe and a variety of other countries. The success of the single helped Toto to regain their popularity, after their previous album Turn Back failed to chart in America.
Toto embarked on a worldwide tour following the release of their album. The group included touring musicians Lenny Castro, Shannon Forrest, Warren Ham and Shem von Schroeck. Steve Lukather also released his second solo album, Luke.
In 1985 the drummer Fergie Frederiksen resigned from Toto due to personal reasons. Toto decided to hold an audition, and eventually selected Joseph Williams to replace Frederiksen.
Prior to and during the creation of Toto the members performed session work for a variety of artists. Toto was created following Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate and Boz Scaggs recorded Silk Degrees. Paich played keyboards on Steely Dan's records, Seals and Crofts and Sonny and Cher.
In 1998, Toto began working on an album called Old Is New. The album featured three brand new tracks as well as a number of completed recordings of older songs. The album was a huge success worldwide and the band went on a worldwide tour to promote it.

Toto known for the hit single "Africa", recently came together to promote their latest album, All In. The album debuted on November 6, 2018, and included three songs from the forthcoming 40 Trips Around the Sun, plus recorded versions of four older tracks that featured Jeff Porcaro on drums and either Mike or Steve Porcaro on bass. The album also included an original cover of Weezer's song "Hash Pipe" which the band decided to include after hearing the song on the radio.
